Mip & Friends

Privacy policy

Last updated 4 October 2026.

In short

The Mip & Friends apps don't collect any information about you or your children. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. What your children make stays on your devices, and in your own iCloud if you choose to turn on sync. We can't see any of it.

Who we are

Mip & Friends apps are made by Samuel Ngai, trading as Lumiose, in Sydney, Australia. You can reach us at hello@mipandfriends.com.

This policy covers Paint with Pip, our first app. We'll update it before each new app is released, and say here if anything is different for it.

What the app keeps on your device

To work, the app keeps these things in its own storage on your iPhone or iPad: each child's name (whatever you type; a first name or a nickname is plenty), their age group, the picture they chose for themselves, their colouring, stickers and scenes, their stars and what they've spent them on, and settings such as sound.

This stays on the device. Like any app's data, it's included in your device's own backups (iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer), which only you control. We never receive it.

iCloud sync (only if you turn it on)

Sync is off until a grown-up turns it on in the app's Grown-ups settings. It then keeps the same things in sync between your family's iPhones and iPads, using Apple's iCloud: your family's private iCloud storage, in your Apple Account. Everything is encrypted, and it's end-to-end encrypted if you use Apple's Advanced Data Protection. We have no access to it.

Each device also stores a random code in your iCloud, so that stars earned on different devices add up correctly. It isn't linked to you or the device in any way we can see.

Turning sync off keeps everything on your devices. To delete the copy in iCloud, open Grown-ups, turn sync off and choose “Delete Paint with Pip's iCloud copy”. You can also manage it in your device's iCloud settings.

Saving pictures to Photos

When a child saves a picture, the app asks permission only to add photos. It can't see, read or change anything already in your photo library. The first save is behind the grown-up question, because that's when your device asks you for permission.

What we don't do

No accounts or sign-in. No advertising, and no advertising identifier. No analytics, crash reporting or tracking of any kind. No location, camera, microphone or contacts. No code from other companies inside the app (only Apple's own). We don't sell or share information, because we don't have any.

Children's privacy

Paint with Pip is made for children and is in the App Store's Kids category. Because the app collects no personal information, there's nothing for us to ask your permission for, and nothing we hold that you'd need to ask us to see or delete. Anything that leaves the app, such as a link to this website, is behind the grown-up question.

We've written this policy with Australia's Privacy Act, the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation and the UK Children's Code in mind.

Purchases

Anything you buy in Paint with Pip is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your payment details or who you are.

This website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising, and loads nothing from other companies (no outside fonts, videos or scripts). Like every website, our web host keeps standard server logs (such as the address a request came from, the page and the time) for a limited time, for security and to keep the site running. We don't use them to identify anyone.

If you email us

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you. We don't add you to any list. Ask, and we'll delete your messages.

Deleting everything

One child: open Grown-ups (on the “Who's playing?” screen, which the button at the top left of the home screen opens), tap the child, then Remove. Everything they made is deleted from that device, and from your other devices too if sync is on.

The iCloud copy: in Grown-ups, turn off iCloud sync and choose “Delete Paint with Pip's iCloud copy”.

Everything on a device: delete the app. Its data goes with it (your device's older backups keep their own copy until they're replaced).

Changes

If anything changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the app ever needed to collect anything, we'd say so here first, and in the privacy details on its App Store page.
